My father fought with the Blaue Division in Russia. He passed away when I was a young man of fifteen years of age.
My Dad was eighteen when he volunteered to fight the communist as a member of the 250th, he told me several stories about the Russians and communism.
Ironically, he migrated to Cuba in the late 1940s where he met and married my mother, I am their oldest child and was born in 1952. I still can recall my father's sadness,and anger when Cuba went communist. My family left Cuba in 1963, I grew up in the Queens section of Long Island, N.Y where I met and dated a girl of Estonian descent whose father, and mother, had also served with the Wehrmacht Heer in Russia.
Soon after graduating High School I joined the US Army and volunteered for duty in Vietnam, where I served as an infantryman for 11.5 months. My heart goes out to those around the World who fought against communism on any front, I am proud of my father, those men and women from any nation who fought against the communist on any front. |

Spain owed a debt to Germany for its help in the Spanish Civil War. Do you have a list of the Spanish soldiers who enlisted in the 250th Blue Division?? What battles on the Eastern front did they fight?? Where would I find more information on the 250th Blue Division?? wonderful site. |
