To many of our visitors, the German soldier of WWII and the one they see in the movies or TV are synonymous. This is typical due to Hollywood history and the lack of the German people to have a voice after the war to give a plain and detail history of the Wehrmacht HEER. The average soldier, including most SS troops, and those who joined the Division were not members of the National Socialists party. Most German soldiers (including many SS) like his opponent, was just an average citizen drafted who ended up in uniform, and was desperately hoping to survive and make it home again.

Realizing that the average person has an immediate and extreme negative reaction to what they believe to be the German soldier personified, a set of rules regarding conduct and behavior is necessary. It is difficult to educate someone if their initial reaction is one of disgust or horror. This said, wear the uniform with pride, understand and educate yourself about Spain, the Division, and who and what the German military was really about.

We have 1 simple rule
"How is the behavior I am about to display is going to affect the Society and the Veterans we portray? If you have a little voice telling you it's wrong, there is a good chance it is."

What separates us from other Reenactment Societies is simple, we display it the way it was, not the way most perceived it was.

The following is a list of uniforms and gear required for basic participation. It is preferred that items be original or quality reproductions. If you have any questions, ask before you invest. Not all items need to be purchased at once; many can be purchased as you grow within the unit.

We recommend items of European background to complement your kit. The members of the division had traveled most of Europe before they joined the war effort. And many were combat veterans; you can also add Spanish awards and items of clothing to the kit.
